Master Class

The conference will be preceded by a Master Class on Tuesday June 4.

In the last two decades, significant advances have been made in the fields of CP, AI, and OR. Recently, systems relying on these technologies are being transitioned to the field with the potential of having tremendous influences on people and society. In particular, they are being successfully leveraged in diverse ways for social good to help make a positive impact on society, e.g., to mitigate the impact of humanitarian crises (disaster resilience and response), to support decision-making in healthcare, to protect natural resources, and to assist resource allocation in marginalized communities. With increase in the scale and diversity of open world deployments come several challenges, including complex constraints, data scarcity and bias, uncertainty and ambiguity, ethical considerations, and issues of shared responsibility between humans and algorithms. In this master class, leaders in the fields of CP, AI, and OR for Social Good will discuss case studies from their own research to raise awareness about this emerging line of work among the next generation of researchers.
